OKC Permits Now Required For Roofs & Fences

Oklahoma City Has Changed Permitting Requirements for Roof Repair / Replacement, Fence and French Drain Installation 

ROOF REPAIR / REPLACEMENT

In Oklahoma City (OKC), starting August 1, 2025, contractors and property owners must obtain a roofing permit before performing any significant roof removal, repair, or replacement work. This requirement applies to all single-family homes and duplexes within the city limits.

• Permit Application: You can apply for a roofing permit online at okc.gov/access or visit the City’s In-Person Business Center at 420 W. Main St
• Cost: the permit typically costs $94.50 and is issued on the same day as the application

Please review our current Lake Ridge Covenant / HOA roofing guidelines when selecting roof shingles and color. 

Please notify the ARC Committee prior to replacing your roof to ensure appropriate material selection and compliance with community standards. This process also helps maintain a cohesive and attractive appearance throughout the neighborhood.

As a reminder, please ensure all roofing projects should comply with the following:

ROOFING REQUIREMENTS FOR LAKE RIDGE: YOU MUST HAVE:

• Weathered wood-colored shingles are Required (be careful to use proper color as not all shingles are the same)
•  In the past GAF Timberline and Owens Corning have had the best color matches.
• Style-W metal valleys with baked-on finish in weathered wood color are required
• Architectural-profile shingles are Required

FENCE AND FRENCH DRAIN INSTALLATION

New permitting requirements are also required for fence installations and draining work around our homes (French Drains).

RETAINING WALLS

Our Lake Owners Association require an ARC be filed for any retaining wall project planned by homeowners located on Lake Ridge lake property.

SUBMITTING AN ARC REQUEST

Our Lake Ridge HOA and LOA Boards highly recommend you prepare and submit an ARC request prior to your roof, fence, French drain or retaining wall project. We can help you by confirming your contractor has met all permitting requirements and that your selection of materials meets Lake Ridge Covenant and Association guidelines.
